Three time Kenya Cup Champions Mean Machine, the Nairobi University side and former Kenya Cup Champions Catholic Monks will be hoping to return to the top flight rugby15s when they play in this weekend’s KRU Championships.
Machine, who won the titles in 1977, 1989 and 1990 will be facing off with South Coast Pirates in Diani as Monks face off with Shamas in another semifinal at the RFUEA Grounds in Nairobi.
The semifinal winners, who will face off at the finals will automatically be promoted back to the Kenya Cup to replaced relegated sides Nondescripts and Impala Saracens.
League leaders Pirates were 14-11 winners against Monks and the catholic University side will be seeking revenge.
If successful, it will be the first time Pirates and Shamas will be taking part in the topflight rugby league.
