Making their debut at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Madagascar stunned best side Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to advance into the quarterfinal at Alexandria stadium.
Madagascar, watched by their president Andry Nirina Rajoelina who had travelled with fans beat DRC in post match penalties after a 2-all draw in normal and extra time.
Ibrahim Amada thunderbolt shot put Madagascar ahead in the 9th Cedric Bakambu headed home to level into break.
But Malagasy captain Faneva Andriatsima headed the home to give his side the lead in the 75th minute as Chancel Mbemba last minute strike forced the match in extra time that did not any score and won 4-1 in the shootouts.
The islanders will be waiting the winner between Algeria and Guinea to know their quarterfinal opponent.
