Japanese Daezen Maeda and Croatian Ivan Perisic scored a goal apiece in a draw in both normal and extra time when Japan beat Croatia in penalties at the Fifa World Cup.
Maeda scored in the 43rd minute to hand Japan a 1-0 lead into break but Perisic leveled for Croatia to force the match into the extra and still no one scored until the game was determined in the spot kicks with 1-3.
With the victory, Croatia will face off with ether Brazil or South Korea in the quarterfinals.
