Nicholas Mbugua registered his maiden win at the Bondo Scrabble Kenya tournament over the weekend played at Bondo Pride Hotel.
Mbugua won the premier division title with 2 rounds to spare, winning 16 out of 18 rounds with a cumulative spread of +993.
Ugandan Edwin Phillip Mugisha, who enjoyed day one lead, finished second with 12.5 games to get second place. Third place went to Martins Mutahi, of Stanchart.
In the Intermediate division, Julius Auka from Kwale County won gold, with 14 wins and 4 losses. Milton Mwila from Uganda was second with 13 wins while Samson Midigo from Nairobi County closed the podium.
The highest rating gain was +127 by Nicholas Mbugua while the highest combined score was 1051 by Tony Ochola and Stanley Mulaku.
