Emmanuel Talel clinches Mulembe title

Handicap 23 golfer Emmanuel Talei swung into Mulembe golf tournament victory that was held today at Nyali golf club.

The former Eldoret Club member, who switched to Coastal town, defeated a host of top players including professional golfers drawn from across the country for the annual series tournaments.

Despite shooting a blank in the inward nine hole 4 par 4, Talel won the title with 43 stable ford points to win his first title after relocating.

He started with a par on par 5 dropped a shot in second and third pars 4 and 3 respectively and sunk deep with a blank in 4th recovered with par on 5th dropped two in 6th par 3, bogeyed in 7th and 9th with a par in between in the opening nine.

He had a good fight in the second, when he dropped a shot in 10th, 11th and 12th parred on 13th, 14th and 15th, 16th, 17th and 18th to earn him the title, with the series traversing in the country.

He said he said that after moving to Coast, it has not been easy for him to play good golf due to heavy wind.

“I did not expect to win because the tournament was too competitive, the large number of golfers on the course. At the same time, am still acclimatizing and understanding the coastal region. Above all the tournament was well planned,” said Talel.

He defeated club member A. Rob with a point at 42 who won men’s title followed by Erick Nyongesa 41 points and Paul Krijmen on 37.

Lady title went to Mwongeli Nzioka on 38 points as Pauline Gichara was second with 35 points.

Heinze Bretner and Karani Inamdar were senior and junior winners after sinking 37 and 40 points respectively.

On 36 points was Evance Manono who claimed Members’ title followed by Bernard Simiyu (35) and Nelson Ong’alo (34) while Terry Odoo was the lady’s winner with 31 points ahead of Joyce Wafula on 29.

Sammy Mulama won the caddy title with 38 points as K. Anunda, Geoffrey Kisaka and N Wabwire were the member men winners in first, second and third positions on 30, 29 and 29 points respectively.
