Mburu wins his second gold at World Indoor Masters Athletics championships

Kenneth Mburu Mungara won his second gold for Kenya at the ongoing World Indoor Masters Athletics championships in Torun, Poland.

On Wednesday, Mburu won the 10km gold for Kenya in the 10km road race after timing 29.25 for the second gold and the 4th gold for the country and 5th medal.

On Monday Mburu bagged the second gold for the country in the 8km cross country race. This was after Erick Shikuku, had won the 3,000m race walk gold, and two-time Africa Masters champion Regina Mulatya bagged a silver medal.

The third medal was won by Grace Wanjiru in the 3,000m walk race on Tuesday evening before Mburu making it double.

Team Kenya head of delegation Rose Tata Muya, a former sprinter, said it was an excellent start for the country, especially now that they were making their debut at the World Indoor Masters champions.

“As our first time here in Torun, the weather here is a bit challenging, however our team is really trying,” said Tata.

In other finals of the day, Mulatya failed to scoop her second medal after failing to hit the podium in the 60m race.

The championships, which started on March 24 will run up to April
