The reigning Istanbul half marathon champion is the latest Kenyan athlete to be suspended by Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya (ADAK) for violating anti-doping rules.
Mkungo, who has been representing the country in various events was named yesterday by ADAK in the list of four athletes that has sprinter Samuel Kimani Wanjiru.
Wanjiru, who competes in the 200m and 400m was suspended for the presence of Anabolic Androgenic Steroids (AAS)/methasterone while Mkungo’s Anabolic Androgenic Steroids (AAS)/Testosterone.
Earlier this year, Mkungo represented the country at the African Games in Accra, Ghana finishing 6th.
He is also credited for winning Zabgreb, Croatia, Arezzo and Terme, both in Italy.
Also suspended is 1,500m runner Brian Kiptoo for use of Anabolic Androgenic Steroids (AAS)/19-norandrosterone, Victor Kiptoo, the reigning Mainz Half Marathon champion, for testing positive for Anabolic Androgenic Steroids (AAS)/methasterone.
