Eunice Adhiambo from Mount Kenya University (MKU) led her school mates to win four gold medals in the Karate categories on Saturday during the Kenya University Sports Association (KUSA) Indoor Games at Kibabii University.
Adhiambo, competing in under 61kg category won the first gold for her university ousting Kisii University’s Ivy Imoh.

With her experience, she led Esther Naipemoi to win the second gold in women’s under 50. Naipemoi, despite winning in her under 50 against KU’s Cynthia Wangoi, she went ahead to clinch another gold in women’s Kata category (demonstration) ahead of Wanjohi Nyawira from Masinde Muliro University of Science and technology (MMUST).
Agnes Karaja from United States International University (USIU), won the over 68kg category beating Salome Wambui from Zetech University as Ruth Makena from MKU won the under 68kg outshining Kisii’s Mercy Cherotich.
Under 55kn category, Nyawira beat namesake Esther Nyawira to take the title. As they dominated the Championships, MKU won the overall Kata team title while Naipemoi and Wanjohi finished first and second respectively in individual.
Rose Dhumbi won will compete for her Kenyatta University (KU) in the women’s final in Table Tennis following her good performance against MMUST’s Barnice Wairimu 3-0 (11-2, 11-2 and 11-3). She will face off with University mate Doreen Juma in the finals.
