World under 20 400m silver medalist Mary Moraa, Hellen Obiri and Margaret Chelimo booked a double for the World Athletics championships after reigning supreme at the Athletics Kenya national trials that came to an end today at the Kasarani stadium.
But it was a bad day for former world marathon champion Geoffrey Kirui who was dropped from the marathon team ahead of the championships.
After winning 800m yesterday, she added her second title today winning 400m in 50.84 erasing the previous record of 51.09 held by Hellen Syombua.
She will be partnering with Africa 400m bronze medallist Veronica Mutua at the Commonwealth Games after coming second in 52.42.
The World Championships will be held on July 15-24 in Oregon, USA while the Commonwealth Games will be staged in Birmingham, United Kingdom, July 28- August 8.
