Africa Games welterweight bronze medalist Boniface Mugunde and Nick Okoth started on a high note beating their opponents at the opening day of Africa Zone Three boxing championship in Congo Kinshasa.
Mugunde, the Africa Games 2019 welterweight bronze medalist beat Cameroon’s Jean Onana Ngah o on unanimous decision point’s decision in their 69kg category
Hit squad, the national boxing team captain Okoth defeated compatriot Martin Oduor on points in the 57kg category.
In another encounter, Kenya’s Joseph Shigali defeated Pembele Zola of DRC on points in the lightweight contest as Shaffi Bakari Hassan edged out compatriot David Karanja in the 52kg category.
But Victor Odhiambo lost to Sangue Christian of Cameroon in a knocked in the lightweight preliminary contest.
