Mukhisa Kituyi Golf: Mike Lucas shoots hole in one, Josephine Chesang best

Golf competition was turned into fun when Mike Lucas sunk hole in one during the Mukhisa Kituyi Golf tournament on par 73 Kitale Club on Saturday that was won by Josephine Chesang.

The Golf Park golfer playing on the uphill hole 13, shot 223 yards to sink the hole in one on par three to join the league of long hitters who have done wonders while on the golf course.

Despite Kitale club being the most difficult course, he said he managed to what many people cannot afford to do.

“as you know Kitale club is one of the longest and difficult courses but I managed to do the unbelievable. I was playing uphill and sinking such is so important. I was so excited,” said Lucas.

The handicap 12 golfer added that he got the accolades not in training but in a competition which was good.

“It was a competition and not a training therefore I feel much honoured,” added Lucas who played 76 net and 88 Gross.

Lucas joins a list of the latest holein one winners, taking over from Richard Kiptum who in November 25th sunk on hole 13, 2016 was John Rutto on 22nd January on hole number 5, on 5th January 2015, Ben Cheruiyot took the pride on hole number 13, the same year, M.C Yator on 17th October lifted on hole number 7. Dating back to 21st April 2013, Mahesh Haria Hole sunk on hole number 13, and the same year, Eldoret’s Aaron Kitur won the same on 19th May on hole number 17.

And playing on home turf, Josephine Chesang was the overall winner of the tournament after shooting 67 net (97 Gross).

Playing handicap 24, Chesang Richard Kiptum to second with 69 net (82 Gross) before Patrick Kae completed the podium with 69,losing to Kiptumon count back.

“I played with good golfers and this contributed to my playing well and also l had huge determination and the weather was good as well,” she said.

Kitale’s top golfer Philip Shiahrsy was the lowest gross winner who played one over 74. The handicap +2 golfer had 72 net.
