Mutahi takes charge at meru Scrabble Kenya championships

Nairobi County’s Martin Mutahi started well in this weekend’s Kenya Scrabble Championships in Meru in day one ahead of tomorrow’s final day at Meru Slopes Hotel.

Mutahi made an amazing comeback from last month’s meeting by relegating returnee Michael Gongolo to second place as Patrick Miriti to complete the podium.

The event attracted a total number of 80 participants across all the divisions. In division A, a blood bath ensued with all the greats present. In the intermediate division, the University students faced off with the new players and primary school students playing in the Open Division.

The tournament is sponsored by the County government of Meru and Kenya Pipeline Company and is the first of its kind.

In the intermediate Division, John Mwariri of Kiambu County, Munge Kinyanjui from Naivasha and Samson Midigo of Nairobi County lead the fray.

Silvanus Muli, leads the pack in the Open Division win 9 wins and only 1 loss.
