Nairobi United silence Gor Mahia to win FKF Cup title

Newly crowned National Super league (NSL) champions Nairobi United defeated Gor Mahia to win the FKF Men Cup title during the finals played at the Ulinzi Sports Complex today.

The Nairobi based side were 2-1 winners against multiple cup and league champions.

Frank Ouya score first for Nairobi in the 6th minute of the match from Duncan Omalla’s long throw then Ben Stanley Omondi leveled for Gor in the 37th minute as both teams went into break tied at 1-1.

Enock Machaka scored the winning goal in the last minutes of the match.

Following the win, Nairobi will represent Kenya at next season’s Confederations Cup, the second tier CAF League.

In the bronze medal playoffs, Murang’a Seal defeated Mara Sugar to calim the bronze medal in a match played at the same venue earlier on.

Victor Haki scored the solitary goal for the Seal to seal the 1-0 win after connecting Joseph Omulama’s cross.

Murang’a coach Yusuf Chipo was elated, describing the win as a perfect way to cap what has been a tough season for them.

Mara coach Edward Manoah, said his team did not make good use of the chances they received.

The winners walked away Ksh 750,000 in prize money as the losers of the day pocket Ksh 500,000.
