Fresh from winning their maiden title, the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Cup, Nairobi United has been handed Ugandan NEC FC in the CAF Confederation Cup first preliminary round.
The National Super league champions Nairobi United will make history after beating Gor Mahia in the FKF Cup final to secure their maiden continental ticket.
A win for the Nairobi side will see them face either Sudan’s Al Ahli Madani or Tunisian heavyweights Étoile Sportive du Sahel in second-round.
This is uncharted territory for the newly crowned FKF Cup champions, who were drawn from Pot 2 alongside regional and continental hopefuls such as Rayon Sport (Rwanda), Flambeau du Centre (Burundi), Azam FC (Tanzania) and Dekadaha FC (Somalia).
