Nandi Bears Noah Korir wins New KCC golf tournament in Eldoret

Nineteen year old Noah Korir was the surprise winner of Saturday’s New Kenya Cooperative Creameries (KCC) golf on nine hole Eldoret golf club.

Travelling from Nandi Bears, Korir shook off other golfers to emerge the top with convincing 46 stable ford points.

He started slowly with back to back bogies in the inward nine with a single birdie to accumulate 20 stable ford points and returned well staring with a birdie and four pars and bogies in the outward nine with 26 stable ford points that is rare in the afternoon play.

Playing handicap 26, Korir said he woke up on a good day and holes opened up for him to sink the ball.

“I must say it was a good luck for me, training well with lower handicap golfers from Great Rift Golfing Society (GRGS) led by Elly Barno and Eliud Kemboi who have been challenging me,” said Korir.

He managed to home golfer and closest rival Rishi Rasha who managed 39 stable ford points. Handicap 17 golfer registered 21 stable ford points in the opening nine and returned with 18 more in final nine.

Handicap 18 player Satwinder Sagoo completed the podium with 38 stable ford points. She played 16 points in the inward nine and completed with 22 in the outward nine.

Sagoo stepped on the podium again for longest drive prize for women’s category while long hitter and green keeper Aaron Kitur for men’s category on hole 13.nearest to the pin on hole 2 was won by club’s lady captain Lina Shah.

First nine prize went to James Komen with 21 points as former captain Kamal Shah claimed second nine prize with 22 points while Emmanuel Talel took home Best Markers’prize
