Nicholas Kimeli finished in third place last year competing as a junior but he returned this today and won the 10km senior men’s race even before fully graduating into seniors.
Kimeli who will turn twenty years by September next year, won the race consisting of senior athletes but beat them all as he prepares to compete in Diamond League in The new season.
Kimeli, who finished third last year in junior category, improved and won senior men’s 10km race ahead of Noah Kipkemboi followed by experienced runner Emmanuel Bor.
Kimeli said he ran in senior race before graduating because he wants to feature into next year’s Diamond league and cut a ticket to the Commonwealth Games.
“I will turn 20 years next year but I wanted to test myself with the seniors because am chasing two important slots of Diamond League and Commonwealth Games,” said Kimeli who has dominated local cross country races.
He added that she is also eyeing the Africa cross country championships and expecting a gold.
Kimeli cut the tape at 31:05.6 followed by Kimpkemboi, who last won Chemususu cross country title in 31:10.0 and Bor clocked 31:14.4.
