New Comers set the pace in school games

Debutants Kwale girls shocked defending champions Wiyeta as new Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) champion is expected in this year’s championships currently happening in Eldoret’s Hill school as St. Anthony’s dominate the championships in both categories.

As east Africa rugby7s champions Muhuri Muchiri high schools made their presence known by winning their opening match and drawing the second in their pool A match Eldoret Sports Club.

Kwale will now face Kobala in semifinal after as former champions Arch Bishop Njenga will play Nginda.

St. Anthony Boys Kitale under 20 won their last match against bottom placed Kathungi in their last group match. Chrispinus Wekeksa opened the score for Kitale based team on 42nd minute before Moses Mudavadi adding the second on 52nd minute to seal top position.

As St. Anthony enjoyed the ride, their opponents Kakamega draw 1-1 against Ringa Boys in another Mashemeji derby with goals from Kevin Tom Machika scoring for Kakamega on 18th minute before Martin Okello levelized for Ringa.

In under 20 category, St. Anthony topped pool B after coming from behind in all three matches and winning them.

Today, they came from behind to beat Upper Hill 2-1 in a match played at Eldoret Sports Club. Cleophas Onyango scored for Upper Hill first on 2nd minute as Daniel Odhiambo equalized as Woodngly Okoth netted the winner.

Now Kitale will face Riyabu in the semifinal while St. peter’s Mumias will play Upper Hill in the second semifinal.

In girls under 16, Wiyeta will face off with Waa as Moi Girls Nangili to play Olympic.

In volleyball champions Malava will plays Shimoni as hosts Kipkenyeloi will face off with Mogonga in boys while Soweto to battle with Cheptil and Kwanthanze to face Bishop Sulumet.
