Olympic Games marathon bronze medalist Hellen Obiri and Sharon Lokedi will renew their rivalry at the New York City marathon set for November 3rd in the USA.
The duo, who battled at the Paris Olympic Games where Obiri was third followed by Lokedi in 4th will have another chance to reclaim their titles. Obiri will be seeking to retain the title she snatched from Lokedi who won the race in 2022 edition.
The organizers have brought together 14 past champions with 27 Olympians, and 19 Paralympians. As per the New York City marathon organisers, the field features 31 athletes from the just-concluded Paris Olympic Games.
The duo also faced off at the 2024 Boston Marathon with Obiri winning in the last minute.
Others in the race include Edna Kiplagat, Vivian Cheruiyot, and Sheila Chepkirui.
The Kenyans will be up against Ethiopia’s Tirunesh Dibaba, Senbere Teferi among others.
