Olympic Games 5,000m silver medalist Hellen Obiri and Africa walk champion Samuel Gathimba recorded their win in the second and last day of the second leg of Athletics Kenya Track and Field Championships at the Kasarani stadium today.
Obiri, the world 5,000m champion edged out former Africa junior 1,500m champion Eva Cherono for the 10,000m women’s title.
Obiri win the title in 31:24.7 ahead of Cherono’s 31:29.6 and Vicoty Chepng’eno completed the podium timing 31:42.9.
Gathimba won the men’s 15km walk beating Simon Wachira and world under 18 bronze medalist Dominic Ndingit.
Experienced Gathimba won the title in 1:01:54 ahead of Wachira (1:06:25) and Dominic Ndigiti 1:07:56
