Obiri, Kipyegon, Jepchirchir nominated for athletes’ awards

World 5,000m champion Hellen Obiri, olympic 1,500m champion Faith Kipyegon and world half marathon champion Peres Jepchirchir are Kenyans that will be fighting for the 2020 World Athletes of the Year- Female Award.

The trio are among the 10 nominees for  award where the winner will be declared during the 2020 World Athletics Awards on December 5th virtually.

Obiri, Kipyegon and Jepchirchir nomination come just 24 hours after world 1,500m champion Timothy Cheruiyot was shortlisted for the men’s award.

The Kenyans will be battling for the award with Femke Bol, Letesenbet Gidey, Sifan Hassan, Laura Muir, Yulimar Rojas, Elaine Thompson-Herah and Ababel Yeshaneh.
