World 5,000m champion Helen Obiri was the best Kenyan, failing to march Netherland’s Sifan Hassan in today’s 10,000m at the Olympic Games.
After winning silver in 5,000m behind Hassan, Obiri did not march her competitor as she finished 4th win Hassan winning the second gold in 10,000m and third medal at the Tokyo Games.
Sifan timed 29.55.32 for the title as Obiri came 4th timing 30.24.27 while former world cross country champion Irene Cheptai was 6th and to time national cross country Sheila Shelangat was placed 7th.
Kalkidan Gezahegne (29:56.18) of the Bahrain won silver with Ethiopia’s Letesenbet Gidey (30:01.72) went home with bronze.
