Odhiambo bag a brace as Shujaa fall to Ireland at Hong Kong 7s

Billy Odhiambo landed two tries as Shujaa, the national men’s rugby7s team lost their opening fixture against Ireland at the Hong Kong, the world rugby seven’s series in China.

The Damian M’Grath coached side lost 28-12 in their Pool D opener at the Hong Kong Stadium today.

Odhiambo was the only try maker when he grabbed a brace with Anthony Omondi converting one and missing the other.

He made the first try for a 5-0 lead before Ireland’s Niall Comerford touched down and Mark Roche converted for a 5-7 lead into break.

Jordan Conroy scored the second try with Roche converting for 5-14 lead and Odhiambo grabbed his brace with a try that he converted for 12-14 behind.

Conroy completed his brace and Billy Dardis converting for a 12-21 and Jack Kelly’s try was well converted by Dardis for the final 12-28 win.
