National junior Tennis champion Angella Okutoyi has progressed into the second level of the ongoing J1 18 and under tournament in Casablanca, Morocco.
The Kenyan defeated Egyptian Kenzy Ramy in the first round clash today won the first set 6-1 before her Egyptian opponent pulled out of the event.
Last Wednesday, Okutoyi was knocked out of the juniors tournament after she lost 6-3, 6-0 in the first round of the second week to Ramu Ueda of Japan.
Okutoyi made history as Kenya’s first appearance at any Grand slam tournament after a 16-year hiatus. She was also the second Kenyan girl to feature in a Grand Slam tournament after Susan Wakhungu who featured at Wimbledon in 1978
