Okutoyi beat Stankiewicz to storm semis against Pawlikowska at ITF W35

The reigning Africa Games Women Singles Champion Angella Okutoyi has advanced to the semifinals of the ongoing W35 at the Nairobi Club.

As part of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Women’s World Tennis Tour, the Kenya’s tennis star Okutoyi has advanced to the women’s singles semifinals with a 2-1 win over Poland’s Monika Stankiewicz.

Despite dropping the first set 4-6, Okutoyi managed to pick herself up to win the second set 6-2 and sealing the semi final slot with a dominant 6-1 victory in the third set.

As the only African player in the semi finals following Sada Nahimana’s exit in the quarter finals, will now face Polish Zuzzana Pawlikowska in the second semifinal.

In the doubles, East Africa’s dynamic duo Angella Okutoyi and Sada Nahimana saw off Japanese duo Nagomi Higashitani and Rinon Okuwaki 6-2,6-3 to book a slot in the women’s double final tomorrow against Dutch players Demi Tran and Lian Tran.  The final will be played after the singles semi-finals.
