Africa 100m champion Ferdinand Omanyala ran a slower time in the 100m semifinals at the ongoing Athletics Kenya Track and field weekend at the Nyayo stadium.
The Commonwealth Games 100m champion, who set a world lead on Friday at 9.86 in the preliminaries ran 9.95 in the semifinals on Saturday ahead of the final race.
In other races, Rebecca Mwangi recorded double victory at the meet with 5,000m victory on Saturday after winning 10,000m on Friday at the same venue.
She won the race in 15:45.55 ahead of Selah Jeplting Busienei in 15:47.04 and Juddy Jepng’;etich sealing the podium with 15:47.37.
In 20okm walk, Gathimba won the title in 1:26.16 ahead of Dominic Samon Ndigiti to second after timing 1:30.28 with Stephen Ndoirangu comomg third after timing 1:31.49.
Emily Ngii won the men’s title in 1:46.46 ahead of Nyanza’s Sylvia Jerono Kemboi (1:47.48) and Patriciah Gichuki coming third in 2:02.12.
In the field events, Linda Kageha threw 48.49m to win discus title ahead of Ruth Wairimu mwangi (42.29m) and Mercy Chepkemoi (41.29m).
In discus men, Benson Wachira Maina (48.05m) was the victor ahead of Leonard Bett (47.73) and Fredrick Kiprono Chuma was third.
Peter Mwangi was victorious in men’s shot put in 16.25m ahead of Benson Maina (15.27) and Leonard Bett in 14.82.
Duncan Kipngeno won the men’s 200m to earn the Tanzania trip with under 18 win. The Kiptere based runner won the title in 22.51 ahead of South rift’s Chris Kimurgor in 23.28 Southern’s Abednego Kioko was third in 23.77.
Beatrice Machoka was the victor in 400m under 18 category after clocking 56.03 ahead of Mercy bosibori (59.17) and Magdaliene Chelang’a (1:00.46).
In under 18 girls, Nancy Cherop won the 3,000m title in 9:05.67 ahead of Miriam Chemutai (9:05.76) and Margaret Ngoiri (9:10.81 was third.
Makueni’s Nelson Simiren won the under 18 1,500m title when he tinmed 3:44.27 ahead of Nandi’s Collins Kibiwott (3:45.48) and Frankline Kimutai from North Rift taking the third position in3:46.31.
As Simiren topped the boys’ race, Diana Chepteek won the under 18 1,500m title in 4:24.67 beating Varsity Chepchirchir (4:30.36) and Faith Chemutai (4:38.27).
Justas Nyamai won the under 20 5,000m title in13:14.71 ahead of Edwin kimosong (13:48.08) and Kibet Ndiwa (13:48.22).
