Shadrack Omondi Otieno emerged as the match-winner as Umri Bungoma edged out Webuye Unfit 1-0 to successfully defend their Hopkins Super Cup 2026 title in a thrilling final played on Sunday evening at Sudi Stadium, Bungoma County.
With a prize purse of KSh 50,000 and a trophy at stake, the contest lived up to expectations, proving to be a tightly contested affair. Despite early pressure from Webuye, Umri held their ground and capitalized on a crucial opportunity.
Webuye started strongly, dominating possession and pushing into Umri’s half, but failed to convert their chances. Twenty minutes into the first half, Umri made four changes to their lineup, a tactical move that quickly paid off. Just five minutes later, Omondi found the back of the net, giving Umri a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
In the second half, both sides battled intensely, with Webuye searching for an equalizer and Umri looking to extend their lead. However, neither team managed to score, and the match ended 1-0 in favour of the Bungoma-based side.
The victory saw Umri walk away with the trophy and KSh 50,000, while runners-up Webuye Unfit earned KSh 30,000. Hopkins secured third place after defeating Daktari FC, taking home KSh 20,000.
In the semifinals, Umri advanced after a 4-3 penalty shootout win over Daktari FC following a 1-1 draw in regular time. Webuye also progressed via penalties, beating Hopkins 3-2 after an entertaining 4-4 draw.
