Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League top scorer Benson Omalla has been axed from the Harambee Stars team ahead of an international friendly match against Iran.
The Gor Mahia striker has score 20 goals as he fights for the golden boot at the end of the season but Stars head coach Engin Firat has dropped from the travelling squad that will play Iran on March 28th
As Omalla is dropped, he will travel with three strikers led by Al Duhail’s Michael Olunga, Kenya Police’s Elvis Rupia and Alfred Scriven who plays for IL Hodd.
On his facebook page, Omalla wrote: “Want to thank my Coach plus the technical bench for the call up to the national team. The call up itself was an achievement for me and that showed me that the coach believes I can help my country. Unfortunately I didn’t make it to the final squad, yes its hurting but what have learnt in camp for the few days have been thea will help me big time in future.. Wanna wish my teammates all the best as they prepare to play against Iran. We have a league to win and now gears shifted. Thanks for the messages and support”.
