Onyala and Omondi to co-captain Shujaa ahead of Africa/Olympic qualifiers

Vincent Onyala and Tony Omondi will co-captain Shujaa, the national 7s rugby team ahead of the Rugby Africa 7s cum African Qualification Tournament for the rugby sevens competition at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France.

Today, the Shujaa head coach Kevin Wambua named the final squad ahead of this weekend’s tournament, handing maiden call up for six players.

In the new squad, Wambua handed Samuel Asati, Beldad Ogeta, Patrick Odongo, William Mwanji, Nygel Amaitsa and Festus Shiasi.

Wambua said, “We’ve had good preparations. We’ve had two back to back camps where we’ve taken the time to set our foundation on how we want to play. There are a few things we really wanted to improve and the camps were quite helpful. We are very grateful to St. Andrews’ Turi and look forward to more of that in the future.”
