Former national golf team captain Robinson Owiti paired well with Edwin Mudanyi who produced a superlative performance to lift the 2017 Nairobi District Foursome Golf Tournament played at par 71 Muthaiga Golf club.
The three day that kicked off on Friday, ended on Sunday with Owiti and Mudanyi carrying the title to their Vet Lab home.

Playing in vet lab’s A team, beat Kenya Railway Club’s pair of Alfred Nandwa and Samuel Njoroge with the later taking the lead on the opening day that went to the last 18th hole compared to last year’s 12th hole final play.
With experience on the course, Owiti said they well combined with Mudanyi, who comes from a golfing family.
“Today was a great day after I combined very well with Mudanyi. He is a good player after facing a tough team of Nandwa and Njoroge but we proved our worth,” said Owiti.
With both players missing Golfer of the Year (Goty) Award won by Kenneth Bollo, the Vet Lab duo led from hole one to seven before Nandwa/Njoroge team captured hole eight with a birdie as Owiti and Mudanyi returned to nine with two hole lead.
“We really wanted to beat Railway to revenge for what the Railway pair did to our B side they eliminated in the very first round,’’ said Owiti.
Before the final match, Vet Lab had beaten Golf Park’s Elias Indeche and John Mburu 3-1 in the first semi-final while Railway beat Royal A of Kenneth Bollo and Ken Juma 5-3 to qualify for the final for the first time in the history of the event.
“We lost to a very good team even though we gave it our very best. “Owiti is a very good matchplay golfer so we do not regret having lost to them,’’ said Nandwa.
He added that he had a solid partner in Samuel Njoroge who he described as a cool player.
