Owiti, Saikwa to lead top pros at Mulembe Society golf series finale

Robison Owiti and Dennis Saikwa will be top Kenyan professional golfers at the annual Mulembe Golf Society Golf Grand Finale set for Saturday 21st on nine-hole Kakamega sports club.

Owiti, who turned professional mid-2019 is the captain for Mulembe professional golfers as they chase the title.

The Vet lab golfer said over ten professionals will be competing for cash prizes as they close the year on a high note.

“Professional golfers are now returning home. It has been a long journey for Mulembe Golfers and the Kakamega event will mark the true return of home-based players at home,” said Owiti who captained the side last year.

Among top professional golfers are long-hitting Dismas Indiza from Mumias, Simwa brothers of Simwa and Boniface from Vet Lab and Eldoret respectively, Kopan Timbe, Hesbon Kutwa, Saikwa, Fred Matilo, Edwin Mudanyi among others.

“We want to have total golf on the course and have fan at the same time as we close the year” added Owiti who plays alongside his elder brother Kutwa.

Saikwa, who turned professional in 2018 said his aim is to play alongside Indiza, who has dominated the Kenyan golf for long.

Indiza, who leads the Safari Tour series ahead of 2020 Kenya Open golf Championships at Karen golf club has won two meetings, in Entebbe Open and Rift Valley meeting early this month.

“My target is to beat the veteran Indiza. I have seen him play good golf and I want to play alongside him and if I beat him, it will be my joy,” said Saikwa.

At his amateur level, Saikwa won Nyanza Open, the Hippo Pot, went ahead to claim Uhuru Shield among other top golf series in the country.
