Former Olympic Games marathon champion Peres Jepchirchir has called on athletes to turn up in large numbers to compete at the third edition of Kapsabet half marathon set for April 6th 2026 in Kapsabet, Nandi County.
As the race ambassador, the former world half marathon record holder said that at least 1,500 runners are expected to participate in the race where they will start from Nandi Hills to Kapsabet with the aim of improving and developing more talents in Mashinani.
Jepchirchir was accompanied by former 800m Champion Janeth Jepkosgey, who have urged young runners to come forward and participate in the race regularly to give them a good opportunity to prepare for other competitions, especially international ones, in the future.
Various stakeholders of the Games, however, say the competition will also serve as a platform to sensitize the public about the importance of preserving and protecting the environment
