Sigona Golf Club member Mr. Peter Kiguru is now the new Kenya Golf Federation Chairman.
This was announced during the Kenya Golf Federation Special General Meeting that was held at Muthaiga Golf Club on Friday 18th February 2022. Mr. Kiguru with a whopping 20 votes against George Gathu who garnered 9 votes
The SGM elections were conducted by the Center of Multiparty Democracy where we had 29 delegates were in attendance. Also in attendance was the Registrar of Sports Ms. Rose Wasike and the Sports Director Mr. Japson Gitonga
Rosemary Olonde now the vice-chairman went unopposed as Philip Ochola now doubles up as the secretary of the Kenya Golf Union and the Kenya Golf Federation.
Njani Ndiritu from Vet Lab Sports Club also doubles up as the treasurer of the Kenya Golf Union and the Kenya Golf Federation. Njani Ndiritu was up against Florence Kamau from Kenya Railway Golf Club.
During the Meeting the outgoing Chairman Dr. Paul Murumba thanked all the delegates for their cooperation and wished the new board the best as the take golf to the next level. He also thanked the CMD for conducting the elections in a fair manner.
Clinching the five executive committee slots were, Mukami Wangai from Limuru Country Club, Collins Ojiambo – from Karen Country Country Club, David Ndungu from Limuru Country Club, Jane Babsa from Muthaiga Golf Club and Evans Nyaga from Windsor Golf and Country Club.
In his acceptance speech, Kiguru reiterated that the task ahead is to merge the operations of the Kenya Ladies Golf Union, Kenya Golf Union and Kenya Golf Federation. The elected individuals will work together to ensure that the strategic growth of golf is harmonized across the country
