Sports principal Secretary Elijah Mwangi has led Kenyans and the continent at large in congratulating Athletic Kenya’s (AK) President Lt. Gen (rtd) Jackson Tuwei for his appointment as the Interim President of the Council of Confederation of Africa Athletics.
Mwangi said that the appointment is a great honor to Kenya and a testament to his stellar leadership credentials and an outstanding steward of athletic talent at national, continental and global level.
“As a leader, Tuwei has singularly contributed to the growth of athletics in the continent through strategic guidance of athletics bodies, collaboration and partnerships and well as presenting a growth trajectory that continue to elevate athletics in Africa to unprecedented heights.”
“As you take up this new role, Kenya is confident that your will steer the CAA to greater achievements and continue to nurture, built on and actualize the grand vision of the late Hamad Kalkaba Malboum; a vision of an empowered Africa continent that is fueled by world-class athleticism, utmost professionalism and enhanced brotherhood of African states forged through sports,” he wrote on his facebook page.
Tuwei, who has been serving as first vice president of CAA assumes office following the death of CAA president Hamad Kalkaba Malboum.
