Rangers beat Mathare as Shabana take to the top after KPL round one matches

Shabana FC has taken the lead on the Kenya Premier League table following their 4-2 victory against newcomers APS Bomet.

After today’s match where Posta Rangers beat former champions Mathare United, Shabana has maintained top position after round one of matches played over the weekend.

Rangers came from a goal down to beat their hosts mathare 2-1 in a match played at the Kasarani Indoor Arena with faustine Ojiambo and Trevor Omondi scoring for Rangers while Ellie Asieche netted a consolation for Mathare.

Asieche scored first for Mathare in the 45th minute for a 1-0 lead into water break but on resumption, it was all about Sammy Omollo coached side Rangers and Ojiambo equalized in the 73rd minute as Omondi scored the winner in the 85th minute after coming on as a substitute.

With Monday conclusion of round one fixture, Shabana has taken to the pole of the table on three points followed by KCB who beat former champions Tusker 2-0 on Friday’s opening fixture then Rangers, Bidco United that triumphed against Gor Mahia with 1-0 and Ulinzi Stars who beat Murang’a Seal 1-0.
