Rayon Sports shock Gor Mahia

Rwandan champions Rayon Sports collected maximum points against their hosts Gor Mahia in the CAF Confederations Cup played today evening at Moi Sports Centre, Kasarani.

The 2-1 loss for Kenya Premier League (KPL) champions has slowed down their move into the quarter final play.

Rayon moved to six points, two behind Gor and will need to beat Tanzania’s Yanga by a big margin in their final group match and hope Gor lose away to USM.

If Gor pick a point at USM and Rayon beat Yanga in Kigali by a margin of less than four goals, then Gor will be through.

Gor came into the tie needing just a point to qualify for their first ever quarter final but it wasn’t just their day as Rayon travelled in hungrier to win.

Gor were stunned at home just two minutes into the tie when Bonfilscaleb Bimenyimana scored for the visitors.

Gor leveled in 23rd through Jacques Tuyisenge through with the goal seeming to have awoken Gor’s fight as they played better, passed better and created spaces to run in.

But Rutanga struck a curling freekick from the right corner for a 2-1 lead and collected much needed points.
