Rising Stars, the national soccer under 20 team thrashed Ethiopia to storm into the quarterfinals of the ongoing CECAFA under 20 football tournament in Jinja, Uganda.
After drawing with Tanzania on Tuesday, the Stanley Okumbi led team defeated Ethiopia 4-0 in their third and final pool B encounter at FUFA Technical Center.
Steve Otieno, Austine Odhiambo, John Njuguna and Benson Omala scored for the Stars to top the pool with seven points and 1o goals.
In the opening fixture, Kenya beat Zanzibar 5-0 following by a 2 all draw against Tanzania and today’s 4-0 win over Ethiopia in one of the tough pool encounters.
Following the win, Kenya may face hosts Uganda or Sudan in the quarterfinal set for Sunday.
