Vet Lab golfer Robinson Owiti outclassed his opponents to claim the Railways Invitation, the Kenya Amateur Golf Championships (KAGC) series played on par 72 Kenya Railways golf club.
The reigning Limuru Open Champion fired four over par 146 to win the title ahead of club mate Mike Kisia as he plans to turn professional next year.
Having experience as the former captain, owiti fired two under par 70 on the second round plus his four over par on the first round to beat Kisia with four shots ahead of the penultimate stage of the kenya Golf Union (KGU) sponsored event.
In the first round, Owiti sunk two birdies, four pars and three bogeys in the first nine before adding a single birdie, five pars, one bogey and a double bogey for a total of four over par 76 on Saturday.
Luck came over him as he played an albatross in the outward nine of the last nine of the second round on hole 16 par five. This was preceeded by seven pars, a birdie and a bogey in the opening nine, seven pars, and a bogey in the outward nine.
“I was lucky to win the title and due to my preparations to turn professional, this is an added advantage to what awaits me next year,” said Owiti who also won Limuru Open champion.
