Reigning Izmir Marathon champion Lani Kiplagat Rutto and Ethiopian Alemtsehay Asefa kasegn were the winners of today’s 36th edition of Taipei City Marathon in Taiwan.
Rutto, who missed a course record won the title in 2:09.18 led a 1-2 podium finish for Kenyans when Thomas Kibe Rutere was second after 2:10.59 as Meseret Aragaw Yitbarek from Ethiopia was third in 2:10.59.
Edwin Kiprop Kiptoo and Ethiopia’s Demeke Kasaw Biksegn finished in fourth and fifth place in a time of 2:11.50 and 2:13.37 respectively.
In women, Ethiopia’s Kasegn won the title after erasing Helena Kirop’s course record to win in 2:25.55.
Kenya’s Lilian Jelagat finished in second place in 2:30.13 with Khishigsaikhan Galbadrakh from Mongolia closing the podium three finishes in a time of 2:32.23.
Naomy Chepkorir Tuei and Hanna Kristina Lindholm from Sweden came home in fourth and fifth place in a time of 2:33.27 and 2:33.35 respectively.
