Safland7s: Shujaa beats South Africa Select to lift title

Shujaa beat South Africa Select 19-12 to lift the 2017 Safland Sevens title on Saturday evening.

Sammy Oliech’s converted try saw Shujaa go 7-0 up before Willy Ambaka landed to give the team a 12-0 lead at the break of this cup final in Swakompund, Namibia.

Sam Muregi’s converted try in between two tries and a conversion from SA Select handed Shujaa the title,19-12 at the final whistle.

The SportPesa sponsored team had earlier beaten hosts Namibia 12-0 in their opening section X match before stopping Zambia 31-0. They followed this up with a 41-0 win over South Africa’s Bulls before falling 21-24 to SA Select. They would then defeat Namibia Academy 26-0 in their semifinal before turning the tables on SA Select in the cup final
