Emmanuel Saina and Vivian Kiplagat Jerono were the winners of the 34th edition of Buenos Aires International marathon held on Sunday morning.
Saina and Jerono won the men and women races with a course record of 2:05.21 and 2:29.03 respectively.
Capitalizing on Pre-race favorite Marius Kipserem who dropped, the 26, Saina won on his debut over the distance where Barnabas Kiptum was second timing 2:09:19 with a personal best while Peruvian Christian Pacheco was third with 2:11:19, also a personal best. Paraguayan Derlis Ayala followed with a national record of 2:13:41, while Kenyan Godfrey Kosgei was fifth in 2:14:00.
Kiplagat continued with her superlative form to after winning the Buenos Aires Half Marathon in a course record of 1:09:10 in August, trounced Leah Jerotich to second with 2:32:58 as Ethiopian Amelework Bosho was third with 2:34:56.
The 31-year-old was dominant, as Ecuadorian Rosa Alva Chacha, fourth overall, obtained the South American title with 2:35:29. Peruvians Clara Canchanya (2:39:27; sixth overall) and Gladys Machuacay (2:40:58; seventh overall), Argentine Mariela Ortiz was the best local athlete, eighth in 2:42:11.
