Samuel Njoroge emerged victorious in the Nyanza Open golf tournament popularly called Hippo Pot, the Kenya Amateur Golf Championships (KAGC) event.
The Kenya Railway golfer played twelve over par 152 beating his close rival John Karichu of Limuru by two shots.
In the round on Sunday, Njoroge played five over 77 when he shot eight pars and a bogey in the opening nine before closing the back nine with four pars, four bogeys and a double bogey to claim his maiden title.
Despite playing his ball into the water, golfer was a happy lot saying the outing was successful hoping to emulate his success in the next meeting.
“The course was too fast but enjoyed playing on the greens. I have been playing well in other champions but this was good enough. I want to do better during Karen Challenge and Uganda Open next month,” said Njoroge.
