Sandhu and Lejirma: Kenya One battle heads to Nyali

Jay Sandhu and John Lejirma will be battling for Kenya one title at this weekend’s Nyali Open, the final round of Kenya Amateur Golf Championships (KAGC) at the par 72 Nyali Golf club.

After winning the penultimate stage last weekend at the Uhuru Shield at Royal Nairobi, the Muthaiga based Sandhu moved to second behind series leader Lejirma from Kenya Railways where the title chase remains with the two players to book for Magical Kenya Open golf championships that will be staged at the Karen golf club.

The 54-hole tournament tees off on Friday to Sunday, the last tournament of the 2022 KAGC Series where Lejirma leads with 571 points as Sandhu lies second with 556 as  Ugandan Michael Alunga takes third position with 449.7 points heading into the final round.

On Sunday, Sandhu fired level par 216 gross for the title where Lejirma performed dismally ahead of the grand finale.

Sandhu, who also won the Limuru Open at the Limuru golf club and went ahead to win Sigona Bowl, said that his game is in perfect form and ready to battle for the title.

“This weekend has been of great importance to me after winning this title. I want to try my best to play better next weekend,” said Sandhu, adding that he was hitting the ball very well with challenges of putting.
