Kenyans former Valencia marathon champion Sebastian Sawe and former Tokyo marathon champion Rosemary Wanjiru Monica were the winners of today’s Berlin Marathon held in Berlin, Germany.
The former world half marathon champion, Sawe claimed the title in 2:02:05 followed by Japan’s Akiraa Akasaki, who clocked 2:16:15, with third place going to Ethiopia’s Chimdessa Debele in 2:06:57. Guye Adola was fourth in 2:07:11, with Japan’s Urano Yuhei fifth on 2:07:35.
In women, Wanjiru won the title in 2:21:05 ahead of Ethiopian Azmera Gebru finishing third in 2:21:29 as Kenya’s Viola Cheptoo was third.
