Muthaiga golfer Shashwat Harish produced an outstanding performance to win the Golf Park Open, a leg of the Kenya Amateur Golf Championships (KAGC) series, staged at the par-70 Golf Park course.
The Indian-born golfer emerged victorious after a thrilling three-day contest, securing his maiden KAGC title with an impressive 11-under-par total of 199.
Harish finished two strokes clear of runner-up John Kamaisi, who returned nine-under-par 201, while Rwanda’s Hitayezu Jean D’Amour completed the podium in third place with three-under-par 207.
The tournament saw four golfers finish under par, with Windsor’s Alex Mwangi rounding off the list after carding one-under-par 209.
Harish laid the foundation for his victory with an impressive opening round of five-under-par 65 on Friday before maintaining his consistency with identical three-under-par 67 scores in the second and final rounds on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
His remarkable consistency over the three rounds ensured he held off the challenge from his closest competitors to secure his first title in the national amateur golf series.
