Kitale’s top golfer Philip Shiharsy will be aiming better results when he tees off at the NCBA Bank golf tournament on 18 hole Kitale Golf club this Saturday.
Playing handicap 2, Shiharsy said he is training well in preparations for the series that teed off in Thika last month that cuts across the country.
“Right now am training to sharpen my skills especially with the World Handicap System (WHS),” said Shiharsy.
On Thursday, he was training alongside Kevin Nyaga and Zena Chepchirchir on the final touches before the tournament.
Last week, he posted 27 points as the highest gross winner at the Kenya Seed golf tournament in Eldoret, which he wants to improve.
“My target is to improve with the swing for better results where under the WHS, I play handicap 2 on course one and +2 in course two,” he said.
He will be joined by former captain Patrice Tomno among others for the title.
“I really have to play well after dropping my handicap to 12 and I have to improve so that I play at least in the single handicap. My target is to end the year at handicap 7 or 8,” said Tomno.
“For now, the course is running fast with the greens affected by the dry weather but I want to play well come Saturday,” said Tomno.
