Kenya7s Shujaa recorded mixed results at the ongoing Vancouver sevens in Canada, the World rugby sevens series.
After registering a win in the opening match against the Mike Friday’s United States of America (USA) the Innocent Simiyu led side lost their second match to Singapore champions Fiji in the midnight match in pool A that has the USA, England and Fiji.
In the opening match, Bush Mwale scored the winning try in the 19-17 win and will be playing England on Sunday where a win will propel them to the main cup quarterfinals.
Kevin Wekesa grabbed a brace with Anthony Omondi making double extras for the victory. Malacchi Esdale touched down first for USA but Wekesa cancelled with Omondi’s conversion for 7-5 lead before Wekesa completing a brace with Omondi failing to convert for a 12-5 lead at water break.
In the second pool match at Kenya’s midnight, Kenya lost 38-07 to Fiji.
