Shujaa dominate Solidarity Cup with SAS and Uganda win

Shujaa, the national rugby seven aside team dominated the second day of Rugby Africa Solidarity Sevens played today at the Markötter Stadium in Stellenbosch today.

The Innocent Simiyu tutored side defeated Uganda as well as Stellenbosch Academy of Sport (SAS) respectively.

In the first match, Kenya thrashed SAS 26-0 in a one-sided match with Jeffrey Oluoch, Alvin Otieno, Derrick Keyoga and Vincent Onyala touching the ground for the third victory in the tournament.

Oluoch landed Kenya’s first try between the posts that he converted to lead 7-0 into break.

On resumption, Otieno extended the lead with the second unconverted try for a 12-0 lead then Keyoga’s converted try extended the lead to 19-0 before Onyala sealed the victory with a last-minute converted try.

In the second match, Nelson Oyoo landed a brace in the 24-7 after coming from 07- behind to beat rivals Uganda.

Uganda Cranes landed the first try, which he easily converted through former Kabras Sugar’s Philip Wokorach for 7-0 but Shujaa responded through Oyoo touched down for the first try with Tony Omondi missing a conversion for a 5-7 into break before Oyoo giving Kenyan side the lead with his second try with a perfect conversion from Omondi for a 12-07 lead.

Otieno extended the lead with his tray to 17-7 and Daniel Taabu scored another try for a 24-7 win.
