Kenya Sevens side Shujaa defeated Germany to win the 2021 edition of Safari Tour annual rugby sevens tournament played yesterday at the Nyayo National stadium.
It was a sweet revenge for Innocent Simiyu led side to beat Germany 12-05 for the title they beat them 14-12 in pool matches.
The hosts went ahead through Alvin ‘Buffa’ Otieno for the opening try that was well converted by Levi Amunga for a 7-0 lead and the losers reduced the defeat through Jack Hunt who crossed the whitewash for unconverted try for 7-5 into water break.
After resumption, Johnstone Olindi made the second unconverted try for a 12-5 win.
Shujaa beat Morans 19-17 in the semifinal while Germany thrashed Wailers 26-7 in the second semifinal while Shujaa edged out Uganda 19-12. Red Wailers beating KCB 21-10 as Germany edged Zimbabwe 31-14.
