Somba Fc became the first team to qualify into the Sportpesa Super Cup final after edging out Kakamega Homeboyz in today’s semi final-match played at Afraha stadium, Nakuru.
The Tanzanian side won 5-4 in a post match penalties after a barren draw in normal time as the champion of the one week long tournament is expected to play English Premier League side Everton next month and pocketing Kshs. 3 million.
Homeboyz striker Wycliffe Opondo, who scored the third goal in quarter final against Yanga, missed to convert the 5thpenalty as Jonas Mkude, netted the final penalty to send his Simba side to the final match against defending champions Gor Mahia or Singida from Tanzania.
Allan Wanga, who netted a brace in the opening match, scored the first penalty for Homeboyz, followed by Benjamin Okech, Noah Wafula and Eston Esiye before Opondo’s shot went wide.
For Simba’s side, Haruna Niyonzima, Erasto Nyoni, Shomari Kapombe and Siza Kuchuya were all on target to end Homeboyz journey.
