Reigning world Under-20 800m champion, Emmanuel Wanyonyi, world under 20 1,500m champion Vincent Keter, junior golfer Tuimur Malik, Andrew Matoka and World Under 20 10,000m walk champion Heristone Wanyonyi have been nominated for the Sports Person of Year Awards (SOYA) as the Most Promising Boy nominees set for January 19 in Kakamega County.
Nandi Based Wanyonyi won the world Under-20 athletics at Kasarani with the national record of 1:43.76 but failed to earn the title to the World Athletics Awards.
Also on line will be fellow athlete Keter who won the title in 3:37.24 and went ahead to claim the 1,500m in 3:35.99 at the World Athletics Continental Tour Kip Keino Classic.
The duo will be joined by race walker Wanyonyi when he won the race in 42:10.84.
Kenya Rugby Under-20 captain Andrew Matoka will also joining the campaign and also featured for the Kenya 7s, Kenya Simbas, Chipu and Strathmore Leos.
Muthaiga junior golfer Malik beat professional golfers to win the Safari Tour Golf Series at par 72 Sigona Golf Club with course record with seven-under-par 65 in the final round.
